Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a way of exfoliating the superficial layers of the skin in order to reveal a brighter, smoother complexion. Typically they contain either alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA's), beta-hydroxy acids (BHA's), or a combination of the two. The depth of peel is ordinarily dependant on the strength of acid used. AHA's are usually derived from sugarcane or milk such as lactic or glycolic acid, and work to reduce pigmentation, smooth the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. BHA's such as salicylic acid are oil soluble, perfect for those wanting to target and control acne prone, blemished skin.
You can have chemical peels as a one off treatment ahead of an event, however for best results we would recommend a course of three treatments 4-6 weeks apart. Speak with your practitioner about your skin goals and they will work with you to devise a tailored plan.
